At the Convention Assembly in 2004, new guidelines were approved regarding the composition and process for the function of the Convention Nominating Committee. This should result in a more comprehensive process with greater involvement at various levels beginning at the local church.

1. The presentation of a name for a particular position must be accompanied with the completed Information Sheet for Prospective Nominees. The presentation of a name may be made by another person or the person themselves. A person's name may be presented for consideration by the Nominating Committee for more than one position.
2. Individuals who are presented for nomination must in every case be a member of one of the Churches of the Convention and a believer who has been baptized by immersion. This is according to Article III (1) of the Constitution and the previous guidelines for the Nominating Committee adopted by the Convention Assembly in 1985.
3. Suggested names for nomination must in every case be sent to the Regional Committee Contact Person. (Please contact your Regional Minister or the Executive Minister's office for the name of the contact person.) There will be a meeting of the Regional Committee to consider names for the various positions. The Regional Committee consists of the Moderators of the Associations in the Region as well as the Regional Minister and the Regional Working Group. This Committee will prioritize the names presented and the Chair of this Regional Committee will bring the prioritized list along with all the names of individuals that were considered to the Convention Nominating Committee.
4. The Convention Nominating Committee shall consist of seven persons, one from each Region. The Executive Minister and the Past President will be ex officio members without vote. The Past President will serve as Chair of the Committee. This committee will prepare the Nominating Committee Report for presentation to Assembly. The Assembly always has the prerogative to nominate additional names in any category.
