Special Project Offerings

There are often times in the life of the local congregation when groups within the church are looking for special mission projects to do. Your group may be a:

  • Sunday School
  • Vacation Bible School
  • Youth Group
  • Women’s Missionary Group
  • Men’s Group

Also, congregations often receive special offerings at special seasons of the year – Easter, Anniversary, Thanksgiving, Christmas – and many of these congregations direct all or a portion of these offerings to wider ministry endeavours beyond their own local church.

In either case a special gift to United in Mission is always timely and will be well used. Your gift could be a general one, meaning that it could simply go towards our overall ministry, or you may want to target your support to some of our strategic projects of our Convention such as the following:

Church Plant, Rexton, NB – Victory Baptist Church in Richibucto is planting an English Church in Rexton. This is an exciting example of what God is doing along the eastern shore of New Brunswick. A small English congregation in Richibucto began to reach out to their francophones neighbours, and were so successful that the congregation eventually became essentially a French speaking one. Now that congregation is helping plant a new English church in nearby Rexton, an English community. Recognizing that this is a great picture of what can happen when a church has a heart to reach out to people around them, our Convention is there partnering with this initiative through our Atlantic Baptist Mission Board.

New Life Mission – Under the capable leadership of Laura Selig, New Life Mission is an inner city ministry in Moncton, NB, that reaches out to children and their families. Many of these children and their families could be described as ‘high-need’ and ‘at-risk’. Your support will allow us to continue to partner with this effective ministry who are making such a difference through the Good News of Jesus Christ.

Francophone Evangelism – Believing that we are called to take the Good News to all peoples and all nations, we recognize that we have a responsibility to be sharing the Good News with our francophone neighbours throughout Atlantic Canada. To this end we have partnered with the Union of French Baptist Churches and have committed $75,000 per year to share in this collaborative effort with them. Your support to this project will assist us in fully meeting this commitment!

Other projects you might like to consider could include:

Dr. Lois Mitchell – Dr. Mitchell is Director of Public Witness and Social Concern within our Convention. Dr. Mitchell not only assists our congregations in thinking through the nuances of the critical social concerns of our day and how we should respond to them, but also speaks with credibility and knowledge to government, community and media on our behalf. Your support to the Department of Public Witness and Social Concern will enable us to continue this most important form of witness to our wider world.

Congregational Revitalization Grants – Each year through United in Mission we invest hundreds of thousands of dollars in supporting congregations (for approximately three to five years) to support them as they implement turn-around strategies so that they can move from decline to health and growth. Your support to this will enable us to continue to invest in the health and long-term effectiveness of countless congregations throughout Atlantic Canada.

Algonquin Evangelism Conference – Every second year our Convention hosts a ‘Conference on Evangelism’ that is held at the stately Fairmont Algonquin in beautiful St. Andrews, NB. Designed as a means of honouring, thanking and investing in congregational leaders (both lay and clergy) who serve so faithfully – often with little recognition. This conference offers world-class speakers who encourage and equip our church leaders in leading our congregations in reaching out to those who as yet do not know Christ. We seek to raise approximately $50,000 for each conference so we can cover about half of the costs of this retreat. Your support is indispensable so we can continue to make this kind of investment in our congregational leaders!
