About

Link 2009

LINK clergy teen retreat is a special event open only to those children, ages 13-grade 12, whose mom or dad is in full time Christian ministry within our Convention. LINK started in 2004 out of a desire to support our clergy families by offering a special and free retreat for their children once a year. It turned into so much more! We discovered that the children of our clergy are some of the most gifted youth in our region and a treasure. We also discovered that at LINK they made friendships and have stayed connected throughout the year. The first ever LINK was held in Moncton, then it moved to Halifax in 2005. Both of these events were full and we had to turn people away. In 2006 the youth decided in an effort to accommodate all who wanted to come they would move to a camp. Since then, rotating between New Brunswick and Nova Scotia, we have had the opportunity to be hosted by several different camps. LINK is made possible by the generosity of donors who support the Convention's Youth and Family Department and is anticipated every year by those who attend.

“This weekend (LINK) is so stress free, it's like a burst of energy every year once I get back home. Along with all of this, being able to attend Link…has really helped me be able to grow up and accept some things about life as a PK, easier than if I had to do it by myself (well, just me and God)… I am so blessed to be able to have gone every year and my life is so much richer because of it.” A comment from a youth who attended LINK in September 2008.
