Atlantic Baptist Families Serve in Toronto

Parent Teen Mission Tour Team

Between March 7th and 14th, parents and teens from four families travelled to Toronto for a week of inner city mission. Those who went experienced complete cross-cultural ministry as they worshipped in Spanish, worked with inner-city Jamaican children, made friends with refugees from many different countries, served in a food bank and shovelled snow for a small struggling church. When asked what he would say to others who were thinking of going on this trip, one of the teens responded “it’s great, just do it! You’ll grow spiritually!”

The partnership was coordinated by Dale Stairs (Youth and Family Department), Peter Lohnes (First Cornwallis Baptist) and Rob Patterson (Toronto Baptist Association). This trip is one several regular mission experiences planned by the Youth and Family Department with the primary goal of strengthening families and local churches in Atlantic Canada. Current plans are to do a similar mission trip with parents and teens again in 2010. Watch this website for details or contact Dale Stairs in the Convention Office.
