Baby Dedication at Jemseg

New Cornwall

Christmas Eve marked an exciting event in the life of the Jemseg Baptist family. At the annual Christmas Eve service with special music, lighting of the Advent wreathe and a special skit, we were blessed to have a baby dedication. Gary and Andrea Vail were blessed with the birth of their second daughter in November 2009. On Christmas Eve with the community and family present, Gary and Andrea along with their older daughter Emma, presented Elizabeth to God.

New Cornwall Welcomes New Pastor

New Cornwall

On March 1st, the New Cornwall United Baptist Church will welcome Rev. Tom Davidson as their new Pastor. This is somewhat of an historical event as Rev. Davidson will become the first Pastor to live in the community.

The church, which was part of a three point field, is now being served on a half time basis like the other two churches. The Annual Reports show that New Cornwall has moved into this position because of a desire "to grow". Over the past years, the worship attendance has increased by 85% and membership by 25%.
Beginning three years ago, they grew from having only two services per month to
services each week. Bible Study also began on a weekly basis with a
total of twenty-two in attendance, with an average this year of about seventeen.

The Kids Church Christmas Conspiracy

Grand Harbour Baptist

We at Grand Harbour Baptist, Grand Manan, admire the ambition and attitude of our “Kids Church” and Youth Group, under the leadership of Children’s Pastor, Joy Green and Youth Pastor, Brent Green. They decided that this Christmas they could make a difference in our world and set about to prove it. The Kids and Teens on this small rural island set ambitious goals. Using "The Sharing Way” catalog as a guide, the nursery kids wanted to give chickens, the preschoolers decided on pigs, and so on, with the middle school kids freeing children and teens taking on a variety of challenges around the globe.

Youth Nation of Greater Moncton

Youth Nation

I stood at the front of our “Youth Nation” rally on Dec. 1st and began to speak. Something was different. I couldn’t quite put my finger on it, but the atmosphere was apart from most other youth rallies I’ve been a part of. I am attempting to give these youth God’s perspective on the work that they have done. Every eye is on me and their attention is focused. It seems that they have come to this rally not with the attitude of “entertain me” but “lead me.” Let me back up a bit and explain the whole story.

Christmas Outreach @ Main Street

Main Street Baptist
Main Street Baptist

Main Street Baptist Church has had a significant year-round ministry presence in the Old North End of Saint John for many years. This area is a low-income community with its share of blessings and challenges. Due to the high number of urban poor and single moms, Christmas is a time when the church works together to help those around the neighbourhood.

This year we were able to:

Shediac Baptist Decommissioning
Shediac Baptist Church

Recently we shared the story of the decommissioning of the Dutch Valley Baptist Church. Here is similar story with a different ending.

Shediac Baptist Church held a decommissioning service on September 20th. The church was first commissioned in 1853. The present building was the second one on the site and has served the Shediac area for exactly 100 years (1909-2009).

It was a beautiful afternoon, the first Sunday in November, 2009, when thirty-five people gathered near Sussex, NB, at the Dutch Valley Baptist Church for a decommissioning service.
