Evangelism Conference Attracts Capacity Crowd

Evangelism Conference Attendees

Over 300 pastors and laypeople from across Atlantic Canada gathered in St. Andrew’s NB October 16-19th to take part in the fourth Conference on Evangelism.

This series of conferences, sponsored by our Convention’s Atlantic Baptist Mission Board, challenges church leaders to consider how to successfully communicate the unchanging gospel in a rapidly changing world. The gathering took place at the historic Fairmont Algonquin hotel and combined large group worship opportunities, plenary talks and talk back sessions with small group seminar experiences. The event also features wonderful accommodations and meals and two free afternoons for sightseeing and relaxation. This year’s conference featured worship leader Brent Cummings and the Lancaster Baptist Worship Team from Saint John NB and plenary talks by noted author and speaker Brian McLaren.

Conference organizer, Dr. Malcolm Beckett, said that he “appreciated McLaren’s insight into the changing culture and his challenge to conference attendees to hold firm to the gospel message while at the same time finding creative means of sharing it.” Dr. Garth Williams, Lead Pastor of Union Street Baptist Church in St. Stephen NB, commented, “…the Algonquin hotel is a wonderful environment in which to be refreshed physically and spiritually. I am so pleased that our Convention shows care for our church leaders by investing in such top quality programs and venues.”
