Worship

Looking for a good worship resource? Many worship leaders in our churches who are looking for good ideas and help, often access resources and conferences from beyond our region and around North America. Few churches have the resources to have a worship person on staff. Many worship leaders are volunteers that have little time and opportunity for training.

Now there is a resource available from our region - www.worshipperiod.com. This website contains blog postings on all things relating to worship, creativity and leadership, instructional videos, and links to others resources like websites, cds and conferences. It profiles worship leaders from around the Convention and many will contribute articles sharing their experience and expertise. You will also find interviews with “Maritime Worship Leaders Made Good” like Tim Milner and Matt Brouwer.

Jeff Somers is the face behind the development of this resource. Jeff is the Director of Worship and Communications at Lewisville Baptist Church. He is no stranger to worship and familiar to many of us. So, why an online worship resource? “For a while, I've had a nagging desire to create a resource for worship leaders specifically for the Maritimes. There's a lot of good stuff out there and a lot of big fancy conferences”, says Jeff. “But I find that there is a gap between what the so-called "big boys" are doing and what the folks here in the trenches experience. I wanted to put something together that draws from leaders in our area who have been at it for a while and have had plenty of successes and, more importantly, plenty of mistakes who can share with the wider group some of their expertise and experience.”
